Cigarzilla's Thursday night Cigar Chat!

Every Thursday (9pm Eastern / 6pm Pacific) you can check out the Cigar Chat on dalnet's #cigarzilla.
You can also connect using your web browser by going to: http://www.cigarzilla.net/chat/

what is the program that asks to be loaded when you contact this site?

the program that is to be loaded when going to the webchat is PJIRC. It is a very popular java irc client.

soon i will write up a full description / instructions of the methods to connect to #cigarzilla along with any problems people run into ...

When can you get that review done? I cant get on the chat and don't know whats wrong Shocked

there are two ways to join the #cigarzilla chat.

1.) join via the web interface. click the 'Chat' link above and accept the security message. this is somewhat hit or miss and depends on your environment. i am still trying to get all the information i can about what can go wrong, so if you are having difficulties, please feel free to post your experience here. moe to come?

2.) get an irc client. there are several clients for now we will go over one of the most popular, mirc. go to http://www.mirc.com/ and download the latest version of mirc for your operating system. this will place an .exe file on your computer, save this file, then run it. incase you are not sure about some of the settings during the install, using the default values will get you where you need to be. then launch mirc, it will ask you to register mirc and it will tell you that there is only x days left for the evaluation time but you will be able to continue using mirc after the evaluation period, if you do not wish to register, click continue.

in the new window enter your full name (i wouldnt use your real name) email address, nickname and alternative nickname. nickname is how you will be identified on irc.

on the left side of this same window click 'servers', now on the right side of the window, select 'DALnet' from the 'irc network' and

on the left side of the window click 'options', now on the right side click 'connect on startup'. now click the 'perform' button. a new 'perform' window will appear, click 'enable perform on connect' and select 'DALnet' from the 'network' drop down. if DALnet doesnt appear click the add button, select 'DALnet' from the selection and click 'ok'. now with DALnet showing in the network list type '/join #cigarzilla' in the perform commands box. then click ok.

now on the left side of the window click servers and click the 'connect to server' window.

you will now be connected to the #cigarzilla channel on the DALnet network!

you should now be able to shutdown and restart mirc and you will be automatically connected to #cigarzilla.

the chatroom is active almost 24/7 so i advise everyone to log in for some cigar chat or simply stupid bantering

well, here is a new situation. I am on my new laptop, and any time that I try to connect, the connection times out. any help would be appreciated. Im on a wireless network if that helps, but the other computer I used to use to access the chat is on the same network. its strange.

sleep are you using the web interface or an irc client line mIRC to connect to the chat?

If you are using the web interface it may be that your JAVA needs to be updated on the laptop.

If you are using an irc client keep trying different servers and if all else fails, try connecting on one of the other networks. We are also on undernet #cigars, freenode #cigars, efnet #cigarzilla as well as our dalnet #cigarzilla.
